It's a common and frustrating issue: you've dialed in your design, perfected your settings, and placed the same type of tumbler in your laser machine—only to get different engraving results. Why does this happen? In this article, we explore the most common causes and how to ensure consistent output every time.
1. Focus Height Variations
Even slight changes in focus height can dramatically affect the engraving outcome. If your laser module is not at the exact optimal distance from the surface, the beam can become defocused, resulting in lighter or blurrier engravings.
Solution: Before starting each job, run Framing to check the focus height. Be especially careful when switching between objects of slightly different heights.
Note: For all WeCreat Models, the optimal height is 40mm from the bottom of the laser module to the surface of the material.
2. Tumbler Placement on the Rotary Attachment
Rotary engraving introduces its own challenges. If the tumbler is not perfectly level or aligned within the rotary attachment, the engraving path can warp or skew.
Solution: Always double-check that the tumbler is evenly seated and well-secured. Use a level if necessary to ensure alignment along the X-axis.

4. Material Surface Inconsistencies

Solution: Wipe down each tumbler before use and inspect for scratches or coating irregularities. Test engrave on a hidden area if you're unsure.
5. Inconsistent Software or Machine Settings
Unintended changes in layer settings, power, or speed can lead to varying results. Occasionally, software bugs or user input errors can cause discrepancies.

6. Impact of File Type on Engraving Results
