Similar to most blue diode lasers, WeCreat lasers aren’t really designed to work with acrylic. Here comes the question: Does it mean engraving or cutting acrylic is impossible?
Engraving or cutting acrylic is indeed possible ad some useful tips will be shared in this article.
Acrylic Engraving:
1. Colored Acrylic Engraving
Acrylic in deep colors such as Black, Red, Orange and Brown are suitable for engraving. Below are some test results on our end.
Besides, here are some recommended settings for the acrylic with the thickness of 1.8mm.
2.Transparent Acrylic Engraving
To engrave on transparent acrylic, please put a piece of black metal board underneath of it, for example, a black aluminum board.
- Can I put a piece of wood or paper under it? Not recommended, as the wood will leave burn marks on the acrylic and it may not be flat enough.
Please note: in this case, turn off auto-focus in settings and put in the thickness of the black metal board only.

Acrylic Cutting
While a diode is not going to be able to cut anything transparent, glitter, blue, pink, etc, it can cut opaque cast acrylic, eg: black, red, yellow, and orange.
Here are some recommended parameters settings for the 3mm cast acrylic sheets.
FAQ:
1.Where can I get more settings for acrylic engraving and cuttings?
Please be advised that those pre-set parameters setting are for reference only, the actual results may vary from one laser to another. Always perform test engravings on a piece before working on the final piece.

2.What kind of acrylics do you recommend?
When using a diode laser for cutting or engraving acrylic, it's wise to opt for diode-safe acrylics from trusted suppliers like Houston Acrylic. While they may be pricier, these materials guarantee compatibility and save time and energy compared to experimenting with less suitable options.
