The processing distance of the laser head varies with different material thicknesses. To achieve the best processing results, how can we set the laser head to the optimal distance from the material surface?
There are two methods:
1. Auto focus feature
- Auto Focus is on by default.
- Please note that there may be deviations, with an error range of ±1mm.
2. Thickness setting
- If enabled thickness setting button, you need to manually input the material thickness and then click Start, the machine will directly start engraving or cutting.
- If you forget to input the material thickness, the system will start engraving or cutting with the default thickness of 3mm.
- If the input material thickness is incorrect, it may cause the laser module to hit the material or the laser module is not at the optimal working distance for engraving or cutting, affecting its effect.
A warm reminder: the optimal focal height is 40mm from the bottom of the laser module to the surface of the material.
For example, If your actual material is 3mm thick, but auto-focus detects it as 4.75mm, the machine will process it based on that incorrect thickness. Although it may not be immediately visible to the naked eye, the processing precision is indeed affected when the focus is slightly off.
Comparatively, the best processing results are achieved by manually setting the material thickness.
